Video Transcript

"Hello, my name is Melisa Schenk and on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to talk about how to deal with a bully. So in earlier clips we've been talking about confidence, self-esteem, building self-esteem and that is really in essence what spread the sunshine is all about. Spreading sunshine to other people but also spreading it within yourselves. So what the program Spread the Sunshine is, it travels to different schools and within those schools we work with kids and we build their confidence and we build their self-esteem and we focus on the idea of how do you want to be remembered? It's a big though, a lot of young people haven't even thought of the thought of how they want to be remembered. But it's a universal truth, you'll always be remembered for the things that you say and do. So getting kids to think about that in a young age vs. when they're in towards their 20s and 30s, definitely helps with their bullying. So what we do within the program Spread the Sunshine is, we talk about character values. There are 10 pillars of cultivating character and so we discuss topics like; responsibility, honesty, trust, all of these different character values, we put together and in hopes to encourage and inspire, to motivate young people that they will choose character over bullying."
