"Hello! My name is Melissa Schenk and on behalf of Expert Village, today we're going to learn how to make paper snowflakes. In this clip, let's talk about how to prepare your paper in order to make those paper snowflakes. Very simply. If we're using, let's say a regular white piece of paper, an 8 1/2 x 11 as we have right here. What we need to end up with first off is a square. The easiest way to do this is to take your paper here like that, fold it until the corner touches the edge over here. You're going to make a crease like this. Then you're going to take your scissors and you're going to cut right across there in order to be left with a square. You can do this with any size of paper. As I mentioned, we're just going to use the regular 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper today to demonstrate how to make some simple paper snowflakes, but you can get as creative as you want later on. In fact, I used this paper back here, fold it in half, and made a very large paper snowflake like this. Again, you can get as creative as you want. First off, whatever you do, you just need the square to start off with."
