"Hello! My name is Melissa Schenk and on behalf of Expert Village, today we're going to learn how to make paper snowflakes. I know it might sound a little obvious, but let's talk about the materials that you're going to need in order to make paper snowflakes. Of course, you only need 2 things; paper and scissors. Let's talk about both of them separately for just a moment. First off, let's talk about the scissors. Depending on the size of your snowflake. If they're larger, you can use larger scissors. If it's small, if you want small snowflakes with lots of detail in them, then you're going to need more intricate pair of scissors like smaller ones, very sharp pointy ones, and anything that will help you get that accuracy. You might even want to use a very sharp Exacto knife if you want to get really precise snowflakes. Today, we're just going to learn the basics. We've talked about the scissors. Now let's talk about paper. Again, it might sound quite obvious, but the easiest type of paper to use is 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of paper. I'll show you on the next clips. We're going to form them into squares. What you basically can do though is you can use a paper this large even, and you can make larger snowflakes so that they would like something like this. Again, you can get whatever paper you want. If you want really accurate, really precise, especially the smaller snowflake, then I would recommend very light paper. The 8 1/2 x 11 paper is like regular paper, printer paper. It's a little on the thick side. It's not bad, but you can get even thinner paper if you do desire. Again, we're just going to use the regular 8 1/2 x 11 paper for today to show you how to make those snowflakes."
