"Hi, this is Jon and in this clip, I'll be talking about the materials we're going to be using for our project. Now first off, we're going to need an oak board, and if you choose to make your book stand out of a different material, perhaps maple or walnut, you can make it out of any type of material you want. You can even make it out of plywood and paint it. I also purchased some one-inch utility hinges. Now, I purchased silver ones because I prefer silver. You can buy whatever color you want. The hinges are going to act as our pivot points for our book stand so we can adjust it to different-sized books. You will also need a tape measure, and a pencil and obviously these are going to be used for measuring and marking out our pieces. I also have two different grits of sandpaper. Here I have a 120 grit sandpaper and this is going to be for my initial sanding, and then I have a 220 grit sandpaper and this is going to be used for my finished sanding. At the end of my project, I'm going to be putting a coat of stain on it to give it a nice color. You can paint yours or stain it or just go with a shlack. It's really up to you. And once I stain my project I'm going to let that dry and then put a couple of coats of finish on, and that's going to give me a nice, glassy-looking project."
