How to Save Money Soldering

"Hi, my name is Ken D. Orlich on behalf of Expert Village. OK, so why might you want to solder something? Just an example, for my work, I'm a video engineer for Compact and there was this circuit board that had a busted component on it. I didn't know which component it was initially. I just got the job and there was this circuit board that was, I'd usually just replace the board a lot of times, so I'd looked it up. It was three thousand dollars to replace this circuit board. Boss said can't do it but I really wanted that piece of equipment to work. So I dug a little deeper, looked at it some more and there was actually a component that didn't look right so I took it out. Tested it and it was broken. I called an electronics supply place, the component was only like seventy nine cents so I went and got it and put it in there and I lucked out. And that was the only thing that was bad with the circuit board and soldered it in and it's worked flawlessly for the last three years so soldering can save you money."
