"Hi! My name is Kip and I am here on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip we are going to show you how to prepare your connector for connecting to the wire that we just tinned. To do this, of course you will need your connectors and we are going to do the female end of an XLR and remember to pay attention to the numbers. You will want to make sure that your shield goes to number 1. That your common or black goes to number 2 and that the other conductor goes to number 3. Now remember that your male and females number 3 and number 1 reverse to each other because they are soldered back to back. So first thing you want to do is put it in your handy dandy super clamp and flow some solder into the cups that are provided and you just want to fill them up. So make sure you put enough in. Sometimes if you are solder iron is not quite hot enough, it will look like there is quite enough is in there but it doesn't get all the way to the back and a thicker gage solder. I am using a thin one because we use a lot of electronic work on smaller components in our shop so you have to feed a little more solder into the cup than you would with a little heavier gage. So if you are primarily doing audio connectors, a little heavier gage of electronic solder won't be a bad thing; so we got that in there. "
