"So now I’m going to teach you how to make a pouring pitcher with a traditional spout and a traditional spout would mean a spout that is actually pulled on the pot. So this one would be a traditional spout. So I just soften up the clay and pull this out. The other kind of spout we will be learning about in a little while be the beak spout and the beak spout is added later to the pot. Right now we're going to be doing that traditional one, it's really important on a pitcher, kind of like the vase that you make sure that the bottom of the pot itself is pretty thin because it's another one of those forms that's pretty much impossible to trim. So, I opened up my pot and I’m working this bottom very flat and I know it's very thin , like maybe, you know, a quarter of an inch and that's good because I’m just going to take it off with a textured wire and not touch it again. When you flip over a pouring pitcher to trim you have this edge on it ,which is very, very high so you can imagine it's not going to sit flat so you really can't trim it so that's why you want to make sure that you make that bottom thin. So I’ll bring up the wall using a lobster claw first and I’m going to leave the rim a little bit thicker because I need to be able to stretch the rim out in one spot."
