"Now I'm going to trim a footed cup and as I said before that when I make the mugs I tend not to make feet on them because there's so much extra work with putting a handle on. I try to keep it simple as possible but when I'm making one of these Japanese style cups as I showed you earlier I leave it very thick here so I can trim a foot onto it. And that would be the finished look like this, so I'm going to put it on the wheel and I'm going to center it and again that's called tap centering. I am putting it on and you can see how it's going to hit my unevenly so I put this hand here and as it touches over there, I just tap it on center. Now it's touching evenly I'm going to grab one of nice loop tools put my little lid on top so I distribute that pressure evenly so I don't make hole in it. Cutting away a good amount of this I'm just going to touch this bottom part that's curved in, I'm not going to go up on the mug at all. The mug I want I don't need at all to be trimming any of that, that's going to stay real soft looking with a nice throwing lines that I put on there. Here I'll soften that up and that's all I'm going to do to that part of it."
