"The kind of handle, I especially like to make is one that's pulled right off the mug. That's how most of my handles are done. It gives it a real nice flow. Like its just coming right of that mug. That's what we're going to be working on right now. There's a little thumb print there. You can put your thumb right in there. Sometimes the glaze catches in there and it's really nice. Right at that spot I'll put some decoration. So I'm going to start off the same way that I started off with the handle that's pulled off the mug or away from the mug. We're going to start off with a little piece of clay. Make sure that you're using fresh clay from the bag and not recycled. We're going to pound this into just a little bit smaller than the other handle that I made. Shape it so it's close to a handle. The very top, I'm going to attach over to there. I have a couple of mugs here that I'm going to use to attach it too. If I put this on like that, you can see there's so space in between there. So I just have to pound that out a little bit. I give a little curve so that if follows the curve of the mug. See that difference there. Now what I'm going to do is make some scoring lines and get a little bit of slip. The slip is just clay and water that's been sitting for a while together. I put that slip and I score it with the fork. I put it right there. That just leaves the mark of where I want to put the rest of my slip. I score; grab just a little bit more wet clay. Your hand is going to be inside, and you're going to use your belly for this. I'm going to push that into there and pull the clay down around onto the mug; that adheres it to the mug."
