"So now that I have made the flange or the gallery to except the lid. I have to measure it. So I take these calipers; these calipers are really neat design they are. I will take the inside measurement with this side of the caliper and that would automatically will give me the outside measurement of my lid. So let me explain that so if I put this in here just like that I will take this and flip it over and that will give me I will just make one of these lids it is not going to fit exactly. But that would give me the outside measurement on how big to make my lid. So it is important when you use a calipers, that you tighten it. It is loose and you can move it back and forth. Once you set it, make sure that you tighten it and after you tighten it, just double check cause sometimes it moves out of place. Now if I where going to make the lid immediately after, I can just take my caliper put it off from the side. Get my next lump of clay and throw the lid. If I know that I'm not just going to get to this lid to tomorrow, I have to take the measurement now because if I leave it out and take the measurement tomorrow, the clay would have shrunk a little bit. Then I will not be able to fit that lid properly. So I have my measurement, I'm going to take a pencil and I'm just going to draw lines to the edge on my bat. That will just tell me what my exact measurement is for tomorrow and then I would just take this off and put that off to the side. Mark on it tomorrow. "
