Series Summary

God was good to give us onions. It seems that every dish is enhanced by their unique and powerful flavor. Sure, onions have gotten a bad wrap as the potential catalyst of a bad date. But, would you really want to forsake your taste buds of this vegetable for the affection of another? Despite its ability to transform dishes, onions have had an immense significance in human life. In 5000 B.C., the great Egyptian pyramids were built through the nutritious value of the onion. It is thought that the laborers were fed only radishes and onions. Maybe this is why the Egyptians worshiped the great onion. Or, perhaps the symbolic circles, layers, and rings of the onion conjured a belief in eternal life. Regardless, no one should underestimate the power of the onion. Evidence has suggested that it is effective against the common cold, heart disease, and diabetes. The onion contains anti-inflammatory, anticholesterol, anticancer, and antioxidant components. With all of these benefits, who cares about the poignant side effect of onion breath?

If you enjoy eating onions, this video series is just right for you. You can learn the different types of onions and their different uses. Let Manish Paul teach you how to select and store various types of onions. He also shows you how to use these different onions in your own home cooked meals. "Now we are going to see the difference type of onions which I normally use. Onions are basically of 2 base green onions and dry onions. This is a type of green onions this is spring onions. These are shallots they like the spring onions. Now as we can compare both of them the spring onions the bulb and the stem they are almost the same they are more minor in taste then the scallions. These scallions you can see the bulb is quiet grown then the stems and they are pungent then the spring onions. These are scallions they are small in size they belong to the garlic family but more oftened used as onions. These are the regular onions the red onions which we use. A part from this we have white onions they are much more milder then the red onions little leaves. The resemble to the scallions but they are much more milder and more oftenly used in the European cuisine."
