"At this point I have my jelly roll tied up with my scarf inside. And I've poured my water in there. I've got soap on it. Now I want to start the felting process which is going to get the fibers to start mechanically tangling and it's also, the soap and water is going to open up the cuticles on the surface of the wool fibers which have little scales, and those little scales when they open up, are going to be able to lock into each other between fibers. And that's what's going to create my felt. So my felt is going to be my fabric made of randomly arranged locked together fibers. This stage needs to be gentle. Otherwise you're going to have a lot of shifting and you may end up with some holes. So really all I'm going to do is press a little bit and squish. I'm going to turn it and I'm going to squish and press. I'm working in my tray because if I have enough water, water's going to come squirting out the ends here. I should also have a lot of suds in here. And if I don't I'm going to need to add more water or more soap depending on. So once I've done this for a while I'm going to open it up and I'm going to check and see if I have enough soap and water. See there's my suds. So it's looking pretty good. Yes. See how wet it is? So I'll probably need to add some more water. So at this point I'm going to unroll, I'm going to add water to my dry spots, I'm going to reroll it and we're going to keep going with this step a little bit more."
