"The first step we need to do in making our felt scarf is to lay out our first layer of wool. I'm going to use my bubble wrap. You can get this in different widths. This looks a little funny because I've actually taped to make it wider but that will work too if you have a piece that's not quite as big as you want it to be. So I'm going to make a fairly large scarf. I'm going to fill out most of my sheet of plastic with my wool. Now if you're lucky enough to find batting this can really be your first layer. If you don't have batting we'll do our second layer with the robing so we don't have to worry about that. So this comes in different thicknesses. I want my first layer to be thinner than the entire thickness of my bat so I'm going to split it in half thickness wise very carefully. And you can see that I now have two sheets instead of just one. This is kind of tricky but you can just pull it apart when you get to the length that you want. So this is going to be about the size of my scarf. And now I'm going to pull off bits and arrange them to make the size and the dimensions of the scarf that I want. And that will take a few minutes of tweaking before we move on to the next step. But you can see that these just pull away and then you can arrange and overlap sections to get your edges smooth and to get it in the shape that you want. So just keep doing that until you get your first layer arranged the way you like it."
