on 8/8/2009 Wow!! I've never seen an "expert" have that much trouble inserting a guiderod & spring back into a handgun slide.

Maybe you should get some help from some of the "Experts" up here on Expert Village.

"Okay. We're going to reassemble the firearm at this point. Now, I have my slide here and it's without the barrel and guide and the spring. What I'm going to do is I'm going to insert my barrel in just like that. Seats perfectly in there as you can see. Then I'm going to grab my guide rod and spring and I'm going to place that in there. That's what you don't want to happen. That's why we put it in a safe direction. Put this back in there. Again, always keep your thumb on this and keep it pointed in a very, very safe direction. That right there is enough tension on the spring if it's depressed fully where it can put an eye out. We don't want to have those type of accidents happen. Again, try to be able to fix it where you're able to see it as I'm doing it without putting anyone in jeopardy. There's a little notch right there that catches the lip, which causes it to stay in place. There's enough tension in there if I let this go it could fly quite a distance. If it hits you it could cause damage, so we don't want that. Now that I have it there, I'm just going to place my thumb over that just to make sure it doesn't go anywhere."
