Cutting the Drawstring Opening for Jewelry Bags

"So, now we're ready to go ahead and clip these open so we can flip them out and make that drawstring lining opening and this is where it's very important that you have sharp scissors, especially down to the snippy part, and if you don't, maybe you can use something, maybe like a razorblade, or something really sharp to get into the corner. And let me show you how to cut this corner. What we want to do it make a hole on the inside of the square, and I just like to pinch it over. Make a little snip, just like that. Real easy. All the way through both sides so you can see your finger on the other side. What we're going to do from the center, we're going to cut right directly into the corner. Just right in there with that, try not to cut the threads. And if you do, don't worry about it. It's no big deal. You can go back in and sew over it again. There you go. And you feel like you have to, practice a little bit with your scissors. I'm pretty confident with these scissors because I know they're really sharp right up to the edge. And you can kind of test it too and see that it opens right there, where the seam meets. And we can see it a little bit better on this side. Right there. Let me do this one. And let me flip it out and let me show you what this is going to do when you do that. You push all the black thread out. Don't worry about cutting that excess fabric off. There's a little triangle piece and it's not a big deal. In fact, it would probably be a good idea if you didn't. So, now I have it open like this. Just kind of lay it straight. There we go. I'm just going to pin it open for now because before I even sew this I'm going to probably take it over to my iron and iron it down. And let's go ahead and do this one too now that we have an idea of what we're doing. Let's go over here, make my little snip. I'll be faster at this one. There we go. And the more you this kind of stuff, the more comfortable you're going to feel doing this. There you go. And sometimes, if you don't get it all the way in the corner, you'll be able to tell when you flip it out because it won't lay nice and flat, like that does. It will kind of bunch up and it won't want to lay round. This is actually, this is an old-fashioned way of making a fabric buttonhole. There we go. That one looks really good too. And I'll pin it on this side so they both look the same. So, if I had actually sewn up on to some of this, there's no way it would lay open like this. So if you accidentally did, you can still go in there with your little seam ripper and break those little seams to make it lay down straight. And if you did do that, then you know what I'm talking about because it's not laying down like this is. So, now that I have this pinned open, I'm going to run this over to the iron in the next clip and I'll show you how to press it out."
