Pinning the Drawstring Opening for Jewelry Bags

"Before I show you were to pin this on exactly, let?s take a good look at this one and I just want you to see that my draw-string casing which is what these two seams are and that is what the draw-string runs through all the way around the edge of the circle. You pull it together and that is one inch wide. And if you will look here my draw-string lining opening is one inch tall. So it ends right there at the seam and also ends right here at the seam. So we got that so that we will understand that the inch goes this way, and not this way because this one is three quarters and this one is an inch. And then let's measure the little ruffle that goes around the edge. From the top seam for the casing to the top is about one and a quarter inch and then I like to add a half an inch for the seam allowance. So that puts us at one and three quarters. So what I am going to do, I am going to go over here to my circle for the body and before I start applying those measurements to this I need you to see that you need to put this on the grain; do not put it on the bias. This is the bias, the real stretchy pat of fabric. See, this is the grain part also because it is stable, it does not stretch. So find that grain part, and mine is easy because it has stripes. I know where that is at. So I am going to lay it just right there on top. I am going to go one and three quarters. And I am going to put the top of that one inch right there. Then I am just going to go ahead and pin it right here because I know that is where I want to settle it. That was pretty simple to do so I think I am just going to go over to the other side and do the same thing on the other side. And I can see that this is just about right there. It is on the grain and it does not have to be perfect. Even if it was the kind of fabric that did not shift, even if it was a little off you would not even notice it because it was a draw-string. If you will notice too on here I am putting the right sides together, like the shiny side, on each shiny side. This is just a general rule of thumb for almost any project that you are sewing; you want to put right sides together. So I am going from the end of one inch over to the edge is one and three quarters of an inch. And I am going to pin it. Now that we have those pinned in the next step I am going to show you how to sew these little boxes and make that lining, draw-string lining opening."
