on 8/2/2008 I really appreciated the attention to detail, and the professional approach. It was a pleasure to watch.

To raindrop...

I don't have a serger either, and to mimic the stitch I would do a tight zig-zag and maybe a straight stitch right through the middle of the zig-zags if it was an easily frayed material, or you needed the extra reinforcement. Just an opinion, it is extra work, but it looks more professional, finished, and is much stronger than a regular stitch, especially when back stitched a few inches on either end. Hope I helped, your comment was left months ago! I hope also that you project went well.

Thank you, :)

"So now I'm ready to sew this button on, which is the final step. And like we determined just now in the previous clip, that this is where I want to put the button on. Right in the middle of these two lines. And that would give me plenty of room where it's not going to bunch up and it'll just slip right over. But like I said earlier, this is a button that I, that was from a sweater that I had a long time ago and it came in a little plastic bag and it came with this thread which was the color of the sweater. And I just wanted to use this because I just think it matches the button catch really well. And so I used a really big needle. You don't have to use a big needle as big as this if you're going to use regular thread. But for this I did. So we're going to just make a little loop right there around the middle. There we go. And I like to cut off this end. Okay and if you look at this button it's flat on the back. Some buttons have four holes, some have only two holes. And some have no holes and they have a catch on the back. And this one doesn't. So if I sewed it on just flat. It'd be real close to that but I don't want that to happen. So I'm just going to make, just do a crisscross, but instead of bringing it all the way down and making it tight, I'm going to keep it away from the bag a little big. Just about like that. You can just hold it up. That's no big deal if it moves around because. I only have to do this once since this thread is so thick. So just kind of keep it away and lets make a little crisscross. If you have just two holes you can just do it twice if you want. Or if you have the back you don't even have to worry about pulling it away. But this one you have to pull it away. And let me show you why. There we go. So you have some room. You're kind of holding it up with your fingers and you want to get this and just start going around it. So now that I've wrapped it around this button and that means the buttons sort of away from the fabric. So this will go in there nice and easy. Like you wont have to struggle to get it on there because it's flat against the fabric. I'm going to go ahead and just tie it off. And what I like to do is catch the bottom, stick it through there. And do this maybe just a couple of times. I do it once through this way then I'm going to flip it onto the back right here and what I'm going to do, I'm just going to take it off and tie it in this square knot. And I'm going to tie it a couple of times. Because I don't want my button to come off. Okay, there we go. Let me just tie this thing in a little knot right here. There we go. And I'm going to leave a little bit extra just so the knot wont come undone. Okay. Let me see how this fits on there. Oh that fits nice and good so then we don't have that bunching up and it's not too close to the edge. And this fabric's a little bit wrinkly. I think before I give it to my friend I'm going to run a warm iron over this. But most likely yours doesn't have any little wrinkles on it. It's just this fabric. But, anyways that was how you make a simple messenger bag. No lining. Just about the most simple bag that you can make. So if you make one of these I hope you enjoy doing it. It was really fun."
