Pinning The Lip Shut for Sewing A Messenger Bag

"So we're ready to go ahead and pin the lip of this purse shut. We've already sewn it on, top stitched it, serged it where the seams would fray along the inside. So what we're going to do is just turn in under right there where we've top sewn it. And we're just going to pin it all the way around down flat. And remember when I told you about the serging to put one seam this way... this is why we do that. So that when we lay it down, it's all the same thickness, all the way across right here. It makes it look nice and professional. So what I'm going to do is do the sides first. I always like to do the sides first. And I think I'll actually go and pin... right here we have the button catch down also... just pin that down. And now that we have all of that down we can pin it all the way around over here. And this is just to make sure that it fits in there nice and smooth. We don't want to start sewing it and then have it bunch up in one corner because we didn't pin it. And there's that one. And we don't even really have to measure it since we have that top stitched seam, we just turn it over, making sure that that top stitch is in the inside, not the outside of the purse.... there we go. And what I'm going to do next is just sew right along the top of this seam to sew it closed. And we're just about finished with this. We don't have too much more to go. All we're going to have to do is sew this closed, and then sew the button on and then we're going to be finished with this messenger bag."
