"So now we're ready to see this little piece of fabric that we had cut off. And I'm just going to call it the lip of it, to the mouth of the messenger bag itself. All we need to do is make a little seam all the way around it about a 1/2 an inch away from the end. So that'll be our seam. But before I get started I want to make sure that the seam that I have that I had sewn to sew the strap on is inside. So I'm just going to flip it up and look and there it is right there. i just want to make sure I get that inside. So and if I don't I can go back over it. But I'm just going to start sewing on it. Backstitch right there. And remember that we want one side of the surged edge to go this way and the other one that way. And I have this pinned. I can lift it up and I can see that it's going to be right. There we go. And on over to the other side of the strap. And I'm just going to lift this up to make sure that I got the lip to go over the edge of the strap. And I can see that I did. In fact it's right on top of it and that's good. Because we don't want to open this up and see a lot of threads right here. Like this one, I see a little bit of threads hanging out. But, that's okay. I'll just, when I top stitch this, I'll cover that up. And it's the same color as the messenger bag itself so it doesn't look bad. So I'm just going to pull it a little bit. Stretch it and say, 1/2 an inch away from the edge. And when you get to the pins you can take them out. They're just to keep it in the right spot. There we go. There's another pin. And maybe your fabric isn't as slinky and flimsy as mine. You wont have to worry about all this stuff. Let me lift this up and see if I got it. Oh, I didn't get that one at all so I'm going to actually redo this one. Sometimes that happens and that's no big deal. Here we go. And I like to use razor blades so I can't leave it like that. That's just too much. So let me undo this just a little bit. And this is probably going to happen to you, too. So just to let you know, this is common. It's no big deal. Just open it a little bit. Then I'm going to go back and I had marked it already at 13 inches. Let me make sure I can see that under there. There it is. Just pull the threads away and lets start sewing again. There we go. I'm going to look at this one again and make sure I get that sewed. This is where it's at. Sew right on top of it. There we go. And let me see. The surged edge is going this way so I want this one to go this way. And I think I have that strap in there this time. There we go. That's why the better you mark and measure the better your product is going to turn out. Okay. I guess this was off just a little bit but we caught it so that's okay. Now here we are at the button catch and we need to do the same thing to this that we did to the strap. We need to find where that seam is and sew over the top of it. Or at least make sure we catch it in there. I can feel it. It's about right there. Sew right over that. And let me make sure we got it. Yeah, we got it in there. That's good. Okay here we go. Right over to the edge. And now I'm just going to take a look and make sure that I got everything in that I wanted to get in there. Let's see. Looks good. I don't see any seams. This looks good. Over here where I had missed it a little bit I got it. And that looks good also. So now that we have that I'm going to show you how to top stitch the top of this down before we actually close the mouth of this. So in the next clip I'll show you how to top stitch this lip down. So we'll do that next."
