"Here's that piece of fabric that we cut off earlier and it's one and half inches wide, all the way around. And it's the same width as the mouth of this messenger bag. And so all we're going to do right now is pin it on. We don't even have to sew it yet. And I'm going to turn it right sides together, so the wrong side is showing. And I'm going to lay it against the right side of this purse. So it came right off of here and I'm just going to find the seam right here in the middle, and I'm going to line it with the seam on the purse on the strap right here. Just lay it right here on the top. I'm not even going to sew it yet, I'm just going to pin it. But what I want to make sure that I do is, as you can see, this serge seam lays this way; I want to go over here and make sure that this serge seam lays this way. And the reason we do that is because we don't want two bulky pieces of fabric on one side. We want to lay it all out and make it all nice and even and we also want to make sure that this side of the lip lays on this side of the lip, just right there along the edge of it, right there. So I'm gong to start pinning that. There we go. I am going to actually catch that right there to make sure that that is actually the right way. I guess I'll go along this side. But instead of doing to whole thing, I think I'm going to jump over here and pin this side on, and then I'll pin the in between sections. I don't want to pin the whole thing and then realize that it's a little bit off. And it shouldn't be, but my fabric is a little flimsy and it's easy to stretch, I can stretch it out pretty easy, and I don't want to stretch it too much. So now that I have the two sides, I'm going to start putting pins all along the side of it. There we go. And this is really good idea because it hides the seam and you could run a simple serge right along and just turn it under one time if you wanted, but this way, it just looks a lot nicer and it catches everything on the inside of the seam instead of leaving raw edges showing. There we go...and I want to pin all the way around the lip. So I'm going to go to this side now. See, and it fits on there just perfectly because it was cut off of the body of the messenger bag itself. There we go.... I'm going to put a few more pins, so that I feel really confident that it's going to lay nice and straight. So after we do this, I'm going to show you how to sew this thing together. And it's a few steps, but we'll get through that pretty easily, and we'll get to that on the next clip on the first step that we need to do to sew this to the body."
