"So now that we have this strap pinned down; we have everything lined up the way we want it on both sides; I'm going to go ahead and sew this strap on. And what I want to do is start right here, right where the thirteen inches mark from the bottom to to the top of the purse meets with the strap and its chalk mark. So I'm just going to lay it right on top. And I'm going to start sewing, but of course I'm going to back tack. Then I'm going to go straight across to this side, and back tack here. But what I'm going to do also is reposition my foot, and I'm just going to sew across here a lot. I'm going to backstitch. And this is a good idea, especially if you're going to be carrying heavy books, just to go ahead and anchor it real nice and tight on there. If you only put one seam, you're not going to have near enough anchoring on there to keep it from tearing and pulling. So this is a good idea to go ahead and do that. And let's go ahead and trim this. And we're going to do the same thing to the other side. You can never put enough seams on this. It's just a really good idea. Okay, so here the mark at thirteen inches from the bottom to the top, and I'm going to put it right here on top. And here the line that says seven inches for the strap. I'm going to back tack right here, right across. Do the same thing here. And from here I'm just going to go back and forth. There we go, and I think that's anchored on there enough; that's like six or seven seams across. And you know what? I had a little extra, and I'm just going to line it up with the body of the messenger bag and snip it off. There we go and that's all we do with that excess. And now what we're going to work on is closing this mouth off. And we're also going to have to put on the button catch and sew the lip on and then close it up. And so we don't have to much more to go with this little, simple messenger bag."
