"Okay, our next step after we measure and mark the height of the bag, which is thirteen inches, we've already made the mark on the front and the back. What we need to do now is deal with the lip. And remember what I said earlier? We made it two inches extra. Two inches so we can cut off the excess and this top will be--the piece that we cut off will be the lip that we're going to attach to bind it. So let's go ahead and figure out how much we want to cut off. So if this, from here to here is thirteen inches, I'm going to need a half an inch seam allowance for the seam, and then the excess is going to be the lip that I do. So what I'm going to do is I'm just going to go ahead and mark half an inch up all the way around from my thirteen inches. There we go. And that one. And this is actually where we're going to cut it off, the marks that I'm making here. And that way, we'll have that half an inch inseam that we're going to sew the strap to and we're going to--that's where we're going to turn it under. Okay. And now that we have this, I'm just going to go ahead and start cutting this off. And remember, since we back-tacked here, we don't have to worry about this coming unfrayed at all. So I'm just going to make a little initial snip, and I like to just cut right on top, I don't want to do two layers at once, because we don't want the fabric to shift and not have enough, and just cut it crooked at one point. We want it to be exact. So I'm going to cut from mark to mark that I made, and remember, this is just half an inch away from where we want the top of the purse to end, so this is going to turn under like that. Let me flip it over, and here is my mark here. And I'm going to cut it all the way off on this one too. And this fabric that we have left over, it's about one and a half inches wide, and that's going to be the piece of fabric that binds our two together, and idea is that it's going to lay right on top. Then we're going to open it up and fold it over, and then we'll close everything like that. But we know this piece, and this piece are the same width, which is good, that's what we need. So, for now, we're just going to go ahead and put this away over here, and the next thing I'm going to show you to do is how to attach the strap to this messenger bag. So let's do that in the next clip."
