"Okay, so now I've got the body sewn, I've closed it up on the sides, I've serged both sides, up along the sides, and if you'll remember we cut our bag a little bit taller than we normally would....more than the finished bag itself... we added two inches. And we're going to eventually cut off that excess fabric and use it as the lip. But what I'm going to do now is go back tack and sew maybe three times right along this side seam and probably like at least two and a half inches in. And the reason I want to do that is when I cut it I don't want my seam to fray and I'm just going to have to sew on the top of the cut piece and the top of the bag. I'm just going to go ahead and sew it now so I can sew it here and here as opposed to doing it four times. It's just a little forethought when you're making this purse. Turn on the sewing machine. I'll just have to back up right on top, just sew it again. So that way it's a nice thick stitch here and we don't have to worry about the purse coming apart when we're trying to piece it all together. Let me do this side also. I kind of got off track so I'll do it again. There we go. So now that we have that done, I'm going to show you how to cut off this top excess fabric, and then we'll start putting on the strap and finish this up. We don't have that much more to go, so we'll do that in the next clip."
