"Like in the previous clip, I told you that I was going to explain why we added 2 inches to the top in the front and the back, which was a total of 4. We just need 2 inches on top of the front and 2 inches extra on the top of the bag. I want to show you why we did that. If you hold open this bag up and look, this binding seam is 1 inch wide. The idea of the 2 inches is when you sew the seam along the sides of both sides, we want to go to the very top of it and cut off. This would be the 2 extra inches. We want to cut off an inch and a half of that. In this piece, this inch and a half piece that we're going to cut off is actually going to be this binding seam. The reason we do is like that is because instead of having to make a separate piece and measure it to fit the sides, the exact width of the sides. Since we already cut it off the top, we know that it's going to be the exact width all the way around the lip as the body of the bag itself. Basically, we're just kind of making sure and skipping on over to an easier step just to be able to make this binding seam. When we get closer to actually sewing it, you’ll see how it all comes together. I'm going to go ahead and show you how to cut out the body of the purse. Then we'll get on to the strap and deciding what length that we want. Let's get started doing this in the next clip."
