"My name is Leslie Moselle and I'm from Tampa, Florida. On behalf of Expert Village, this is how to shop for groceries on a budget. Double check your pantry. The biggest mistake that people think whether they're shopping on a budget or not is that they forget to check their pantry or their refrigerator before going shopping. This is a great way to prevent yourself from purchasing items you already have. Make sure to make list of the things that you know you do have, or for a shorter list, make a list of the things that you know you want but you don't have in your pantry already. Say you need more paper towels. Write that down on your list that way you know for sure you don't have to question yourself when you're already at the grocery store. You can go ahead and compile this list along with the list that you've already made for the things that you know that you want. This way you feel secure about the items that you're purchasing at the grocery store and you're not wasting money buying items 2 or 3 times. There are many times when you go into the pantry and you see I already have 2 jars of peanut butter, but I bought 3. Although peanut butter does last a long time, not all of your items do. Potato chips. You end up with 5 bags of potato chips in your pantry because you thought I didn't have any potato chips, but you already did. These are items that do go bad and you end up wasting your money. Whether you're shopping on a budget or not, but most importantly when you are shopping on a budget, make sure to make a list of the items that you want in your pantry but don't already have."
