Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open Photoshop and create a new file (File menu > New) or open any photo.

  2. Step 2

Create an object (unless a photo is being used). In this example, a red box was created using the Rectangular Marquee Tool, selecting a red foreground color and pressing Control + delete on the keyboard to fill the box with red.

  3. Step 3

In the Windows menu, select Animation to display the Animation Palette at the bottom of the Document window. Click the Animation Frames tab (in this example we are creating a frame by frame animation).

  4. Step 4

In the Animation palette, click the Duplicates selected frames button to create Frame 2 of the animation.

  5. Step 5

In the Layers palette, click the Eye icon of Layer 1 to hide the layer (this is a necessary step so the new layer is not created in all frames of the animation).

  6. Step 6

In the Layers palette, click and drag the layer to the Create new layer button to duplicate the layer and click the layer visibility box next to Layer 1 copy to unhide the layer.

  7. Step 7

Use the Filter menu to add effects to the image (in this example Distort > Warp was selected), change any settings and click OK.

  8. Step 8

The animation is now created, follow steps 2 -7 to create more frames. Save animation to any animation or video format.
