"On behalf of Expert Village my name is Karen LoCasale and I'm here to tell you about gourd art. Gourd vassals and gourd bowls so we have our nice cleaned bowl. We have figure out what we want for our design using either a pattern or a rubber stamp or we just draw our design on whatever works for us. Next step would be to sure a wood burner you can use a model like this a little bit more expensive than your basic ten dollar wood burner works just fine. So then you would want to go back in and burn that design in so it is permanently etched into your gourd. Then at this point you can use your acrylic paints, your leather dyes, wood stains, any of those items even something as simple as a magic marker or paint pens work well that you can paint your design in. Then decide how you want the rest of the gourd to show and color that portion in as well. So something to think about is depending on how complex your design is that you might want to do your background color first and then go in and do your color and design. You can fix mistakes here a lot easier than if done your nice design and you have gone to do your background and you have accidentally got something on your good design. So depending on complex your design is and which type of medium you are using whether it is paint or dyes certainly give that a thought. "
