"On behalf of Expert Village my name is Karen LoCasale and I'm here to tell you about gourd art. Shadow boxing, OK, we've got our box cut out, we've got our edge burned on the side, so what we want to do at this point is go ahead and do your coloring on the inside before you do the outside. That way if there's any over spray, anything like that, you can fix all that before you do the outside. So, just basic black spay paint works great. If you want to use acrylic paint, that's fine, spray paint just works a little quicker for you. It can take a couple of coats, again, use a respiratory mask because you're dealing with spray paint so you're going to have some fumes. Do it outside and just be kinda careful and so you're going to make that a nice dark color inside so that what your product inside is going to stand out and gives you that nice southwest Santa Fe look. The outside of your gourd, you can use your leather dyes, you can use your show polish, you can use wood stains, whatever product you like working with the best. If you want to actually burn some designs on the outside for more embellishments you can certainly do that as well. Put a little bit of a southwest design here, you know at this point it's up to you on how you want to finish it and we'll go from there."
