How to Make a Shadowbox for Gourds

"On behalf of Expert Village my name is Karen LoCasale and I'm here to tell you about crafting with gourds. In some of your applications you are going to want to have a darker background or you might want it actually colored for your different designs. In this particular case it is more like a shadow box sort of thing so we would want to have your item in the inside be the item that stands out so you want a darker background. So to do this type of thing this is just your basic spray paint you can use regular acrylic paint to do as well if you want different colors. Of course your paint would come in different colors as well too but for a larger area it is a little bit quicker for your spray painting if you are doing a smaller area or touch ups. The acrylic paints works great for doing touch ups. When you are doing something like this you can use your spray paint still as well you would just want to mask off some of your areas or a wet paper towel with you and when you are spraying inside in here. Again use a mask cause you are going to get your fumes from your paint but you want to have something if you shot and your paint spills out that you have something that you can wipe up any messes that you would happen to make. If you are going to do a design like this it is a good thing to do the inside first so that you haven't spend a lot of time making a really pretty design and have a accident and have a your spray paint bleed through or shoot out and actually ruin a design. So kind of something to keep in mind when/what your finish product is going to look like to where sometimes you want to do the inside first verses doing it last. "
