"Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now I'm going to show you how to decoupage a little gift box. In the craft stores they have lots of different little pine boxed unpainted, unfinished, that you can decorate in any way. This one we're going to decorate in decoupage. The first thing you want to do is to remove the hardware. This takes a very small Philip's head screwdriver. You just unscrew all those pieces. Like this. You want to make sure that you don't lose your hardware and that you'll be able to put it back. Also, keep in mind where the pieces are going to be screwed on so that as you put your design on, you know that this is the front and this is the back. Now, we're going to be using a character napkin. This is going to be for a child's gift box. It's such a cute design. It has a whole scene on it. What I'm going to do is I'll put this part of the scene on the top, and then on the inside of the box I'll put a panel of this part and this part. That will be very cute. We'll put this aside for now. We're going to prep our box first by painting the edges that we're not going to be putting the decoupage on. For this, I'm going to decoupage the top. I'm going to decoupage the front edges, but I will not be putting it on the inside edge. I've got a little of acrylic craft paint, and we'll just paint the edges all around in a color that matches. Just paint all the way around. I'm just finishing up the painting. I painted all the way around the edge and then just inside the edge. Painting just the parts that I'm not going to decoupage on. Then we'll just set that aside to dry. You want to make sure that it is completely dry before you start your decoupage because the decoupage the glue is wet and you don't want to mix the paint in with the glue. We'll just set that aside and we'll let it dry. "
