Covering a Window Valance Board with Fabric

"Next we are going to cover the top or our valance. You can, there is a huge variety of ribbons and pretty things to chose at the fabric stores or the craft stores. If you want to use a sheer ribbon like this then you would need something to go behind it. I chose this one because the colors went with my beads and I put it behind a solid, in front of a solid white. Now this is the white it is a piece of blanket binding and you can buy that in a fabric store. It is a blanket binding that I opened up and pressed and then I laid my sheer ribbon on top of it and just glued it down with a little bit of fabric glue. To finish off our beaded valance you want to add the ribbon to the wood valance. So I'm going to work on my scrap wood and we would put a nice bead of glue, a nice thick craft glue and we would glue that, we would glue our ribbon to the batten. Then we would just secure the ends with some staples. So you want to take your ribbon, it is going to overlap on the back make sure it is completely covering over the batten and make sure that it is straight. Then just flip it over and we would secure the end with some staples. Now we are ready to hang our valance."
