"This is Karina Fraley for Expert Village and I am showing you how to make a blanket. We are actually just about at the end of it. So now I am going to show you how to finish the corners. Now we came all the way straight with a straight stitch. And basically when you get to the end you are going to stop just about a stitch or two away from the edge. Then you are going to turn your wheel so that your needle goes all the way down, you pick up the foot, and then you are going to turn it and you are going to put the foot back down. Because what we are going to do basically is a nice square pattern right around the edge so that you have a nice clean edge and you don't have just sort of an uneven line. So you are just going to go with a straight stitch all the way, about a stitch away from the edge and then we are going to turn the wheel, put up the foot. Make sure that your needle goes all the way down before you actually turn your fabric. You have turned your fabric, you put the foot back down, and you finish. That is going to give you a nice square and it is goign to look a nice clean finish. Okay so again, anytime that we start a new stitch, we are going to do a back stitch so that it keeps everything in place. Keep going, stop about one stitch away from the edge, then you turn the wheel with the needle all the way down, you pick up the foot, you turn your fabric, you put the foot back down and you keep going. As soon as we are done with this we will have nice squares. We get to the edge of our square and then we just do a back stitch and you don't won't to do too many because you will knot your thread. And then you just clean up the edges, any loose threads you just cut them, you slip them careful not to cut your fabric because sometimes if you don't pay close attention you actually cut your fabric. There you have it, a beautiful elegant baby blanket, it was fast and easy and economical to make but it was made with a lot of love and now it is going to be treasured for many years to come. So be sure to go out there and have a lot of fun picking out your fabric and just go to town, make some blankets. You can make one for everyday of the week for your baby if you want. Okay, so that is our blanket, next I am going to show you how to make prefabricated binding and I am also going to show you a few tricks for quick burping pads. So join us for our next step."

on 10/2/2009 More close ups would be very useful.

on 2/12/2009 I am very disappointed to not be able to actually see what you are doing because everything on the screen is white or near whote. Was no one thinking about how the process would look on camera? Check out some of the television craft instruction shows and you may get some tips on camera angles and presentation that will make yours a great instruction video.

on 10/5/2008 This series of video clips looks like it would be very helpful. But I can't see what you are doing because the sewing machine, the blanket and the table are all variations of white. There is no visual contrast. I would love to see this video with more contrast.
