"Hi I am Karina Fraley for Expert Village and I am showing you how to make a baby blanket. This is so simple. You just put the fabric together and you pin it so that it doesn't slide around. And we are just going to finish it with a zig-zag stitch all the way around. Now the reason that you do that is so that when throw it in the washer machine the fabric doesn't unravel on you. Which it will unless you cut the fabric on a bias and that wastes an incredible amount of fabric. You would need way too much fabric to do that. So you are always going to want to finish your edges before you start sewing. Also very important, you are going to want to wash your fabrics anytime that you start a project, before you actually start sewing it, because it is going to shrink a little in the machine and in the dryer and then you are going to end up with scrunching and pulling of the fabrics. So make sure that you always wash your fabrics before you start sewing and also make sure that you go with the grain that both your top and bottom fabrics are going with the same grain. And so you put your fabrics together, you pin and you do zig-zag stitch which I am going to show you next."
