Learn What Supplies Are Needed to Make a Pillow

"Hi, I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village and today we are making some very simple projects using a sewing machine. The first thing that we're going to make is a pillow. This pattern is very pretty, it's very girly and it'll dress up any little girl's room very nicely. But obviously you have endless choices. If you go down to the fabric store, you can go crazy picking out fabric. I love fabric. So you can go ahead and pick whatever style suits your home decor, whatever project that it is you're making. Depending on what size you want your pillow to be, that's how much fabric you're going to need. I'm going to make my pillow about 9x11 inches, so I'm going to go ahead and cut a piece of fabric that's about 12x20 and I'm just going to trim it down. Then when we sew it, it's going to be just the right size that I need. So for this project we're going to need some fabric, how ever much fabric you're going to need for how big you want your pillow to be. Then you're going to need some stuffing which comes in a bag like this, readily available at any craft store, it's very inexpensive. So a bag of that. A tape measure, a pair of scissors, and then you're going to want some fusible tape. This comes on a roll and you can find it at pretty much any fabric store or craft store and we're going to use this to close the seam on our pillow. Then you can have some pins handy in case you need to use them to hold your fabric together. An iron to use the fusible tape as well as just a press cloth that's damped. You're going to need a sewing machine with whatever color thread you want, both on the top and on the bottom for the bobbin. And that's pretty much it, so get your supplies together and come on back and I'll show you what to do."
