"Hi I am Karina Fraley for Expert Village and I am showing you how to make a very simple baby blanket. Okay so one of the first things that you have to do obviously before you start is to decide what your blanket is going to look like. And I am going to make a just what I like to call a summer throw. It is a very light blanket, it is very elegant, very fancy but it is very economical to make and really, really simple. I am going to show you the easy way to make this. So I am starting with a, just a regular cotton fabric and I am going to back it with flannel backed satin. And really I cut kind of just by eye but if you want to find a pattern, there are a lot of patterns out at the fabric stores that you can buy. If you buy a yard, you usually, that will do the trick. I usually make my blankets about thirty by thirty-three inches and most fabrics comes in thirty-six inches. There are fifty-two inches as well but if you know what you are doing, I think a yard is fine. If you wanted to buy a little extra in case you want to leave some room for air, some margin for air, you might want that about a yard and a half. But typically a blanket is about thirty by thirty-three inches. So I went ahead and I already cut out my fabric and this is really so simple."
