"Hi, I'm Katie Roney on behalf of Expert Village. We're talking about how to have a successful interview as a candidate. References are a clutch in interviews, I'm on the phone with one right now. OK, so where did you work with Jane? OK, Company ABC, How long were you her supervisor? Just a couple of questions. What type of environment were you guys in? What were her responsibilities? Could she finish all those projects in the amount of time? OK, thank you so much for your time. That was a short reference. Most references last for quite some time. Employers want to know who you worked for, what you were doing, what type of salary you were making and most importantly what type of team member you were. So, when you put together you reference list and hopefully you've sent it to your interviewee before the interview. Select people that were supervisors, select supervisors that you had a great rapport with, that you feel good having them speak on your behalf. Prepare them, let them know that they are probably going to be contacted. No one wants to be caught off guard and you may even want to give them a list of times or give your potential employer a list of times that are good for the references."
