"Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. After you've beaded and knotted your first end, then you want to think about what size book you're going to be putting this into. This one I tied off at about 10 inches. That's good for a paperback book or a smaller book like this. Anything larger you can measure. You can hold it up to the book and see how long you'll need it. This one I'm going to tie off at 12 inches. So decide how long you want to do it, and then you tie a figure 8 knot again. You hold your thread like this and then cross over the front, around the back, and then through the loop like that in a figure 8. You see the 8 there. Keep it loose. We'll measure again to make sure we've got the right size. You can move your knot up and down to get the right length. That's a little too long, so I want to move it down a bit. Pull it and then knot it. Then we're going to bead the opposite way. First, we've beaded this end and knotted and we made our length of our book. You knotted again, and now we'll go the opposite way starting with this bead and moving down to the butterfly. Then we'll finish that off by tying our butterfly on the end. I'm going to cut off so I have plenty of room for tying. I'm going to cut off there. Again, we'll use a square knot. I think it's easier this way. It's a little bit harder because you've got the beads in the way. If you remember, you just tie with the loose end the whole and you'll end up with a square knot. Then right over left. A square knot if very strong. Just pull that nice and tight and check to make sure it's holding well and then cut off. Never cut off too close to the knot or you chance making the knot slip. It's alright to have a little tail there. That's our beaded bookmark."
