"Hi I'm Karen for Expert Village now I'll show you how to set up a piece that uses spiral knot or square knot. The spiral knot and square knot are very similar and require the same set up. First we need to cut up the lengths of cords, you need 2 lengths of cords folded in half to make 4 strands. The strands on the outside are longer, there called the knotters, and the strands on the inside are shorter and they're called the carrier. The size and tightness of your knots and the amount of beads you use will affect how much cord you need. It's always better to cut more cord than not enough, use this rule of thumb for measuring the cord for bracelet. For the middle strand go twice around your hand very loosely and then double that, so fold it in half and double it, then we'll cut it. Now measure another length with that piece to the end of there and then double that. So the outer pieces should be twice as long as the inner piece. The outer knotters are twice as long as the carrier."
