"Hi I'm Karen for Expert Village now I'll show you how to start a piece. Most projects will start by taking your length of cords an folding it in half, hold on to the top of your loops and tie the fold in a simple knot, leaving a loop at the end like this. Usually the loop is about 1/2 long, and you can work the knot to make it the right size. Now if you plan to use a bead at the end of the loop, make sure the loop is large enough to fit the bead. You can just test it out like that. Now if you have an odd number of cords like this, one folded in half and one loose one you make the simple knot tieing in the loose one and again your loop should be about 1/2 long. And then you just pull that nice and tight and then later you'll just snip this end off and that will be your loop. And again you can check to make sure your bead will go through. "
