"Hi, I'm Karen for Expert Village. Okay, now let?s prepare our ears and pin them and sew them to our horse. I'm just cutting off a little bit of the ragged end here of the ears. And then I'm going to fold it in like this. Just about a quarter inch, fold it in. Like that and then pinch it down. You could take an iron and press it if you want but it will hold just like that. And then you want to find a placement for the ears. Whatever looks good to you. I'm going to pin it on, sort of like this. Horses ears kind of face forward like that. And put a pin to hold it in place, and than try to get the identical placement on the other side. So, I'm just trimming up a little bit on the bottom that was messy and turning the edges of the ear bottom in about a quarter of an inch. And then, just matching up those ears and getting the same placement on both sides of the head. You want to judge, maybe, how far away from the eye it is, and how far away from the mane, and try to get a similar placement on either side to make it even. And put a pin in. And we're going to hand sew those ears in place. So, I have a needle with matching thread, and I've knotted it with a good knot. And you want to start at the top of the ear, underneath, where you're not going to see it. Put the thread through and then catch the head. Careful not to catch the mane in your sewing. And pull that nice and tight and just do a whip stitch all the way down. A whip stitch is just going in and around, in and around like this. Going in through the head and catching the edge of the ear. Okay, it's very thick on the end, so the needle does not want to go through. If the needle doesn't go through the thick parts just pull it back out and keep poking through until you find a spot that it will go through. I'm going to sew just about a half an inch further up here so that my ears will stay going forward, they won't flop back. So, about half inch more, going up the side of the ear, attach that to the head. Okay, that looks good. See that's on there nice and securely, and it's facing forward. Then just go somewhere underneath where you can't see it and do your knot. Make a loop, pulling the loop down, going to the next loop and pull the loop down and then one more to knot it. Okay, trim that up and we'll sew on the other side."
