Decoupage is the art of decorating an object by gluing pieces of colored paper onto objects like small boxes or decorative furniture. The ancient craft was seen in early 12th century Chinese peasant art and gained great popularity in France during the 17th and 18th centuries. Objects are sometimes painted or gold leaf is used, and then paper is laminated to the object with a special varnish or decoupage glue. A variety of household objects can be used in this handicraft, including glass dishes, wooden boxes and even candles, while newspaper, magazines, wrapping paper and decorative napkins can be used as the paper for decoupaging.

"Today I will show you how to make this beautiful decoupage hand mirror. Here are the materials we will be using for our decoupaged hand mirror. You will need a piece of wood it can be fiber board, plywood or partial board. The plywood is stronger that the fiber board or the partial board and our piece is twelve inches by six inches. You'll need a four inch round mirror. You'll need some pretty trims and a napkin of you choice something you want to coordinate the trims and the napkin. We are going to be using a decoupage glue. You can also use either a watered down craft glue or a thiner a thiner craft glue not a thick tacky style glue. Were going to use some white acrylic style paint as our base. So you will need a paint brush with that and a thick craft glue or some type of tile adhesive to adhere the mirror to the board and some paper or card stock to make a pattern. "
