"Hi I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now next I'm going to show you how to apply the pocket to the front of the backpack. First you want to choose what is going to be your front. Both of my fabrics are you know have the same pattern there is not difference. You might have a piece of fabric that has a nicer pattern in the center on one side to the other. So you want to choose which side is going to be the outside of you backpack and which would be the inside of the backpack. Then simply fold the piece together like this and we would put a few pins in. Just to mark the center of the front of the backpack. So I'm just putting a couple of pins right on the fold to mark the front of our backpack. Then I will open that up. Now that your pocket that you prepared and remove the top flap we don't need that right now. I want to find the center of the pocket and again I'm going to mark it with pins. I will just put a pin right here and fold in in half to find the center and put a pin on the top and a pin on the bottom. Like this now we have the center of the pocket and the top of the pocket is with the Velcro. Now the placement what we would do is match up the centers. The center pin is here, with a center pins there and we would measure up two and a half inches. You can chose where you want to put the pocket and you can even make different size or shaped pockets. Like I said it is a nice thing to personalize here put a name or patches, or something decorative on the pocket before you apply it to the backpack. Now when you have the placement set and you want to make sure the pocket is on there evenly. So check that the corner is two and a half inches to the bottom edge. That is one straight and then pin it in place. Put pins in all four corners of the pocket to hold that in place and then we are just going to top stitch the pocket onto the front of the backpack. You can remove your center marking pins at this point so they will not get in the way. When you sew the pocket you are going to just sew of course just three sides the side, the bottom and the side and leave the top open cause it is a pocket. "
