Tying Neckline Trim for a Reversible Poncho

"Now I'm going to demonstrate how to knot the tied neckline. I'm going to show you first how to do the square knot with these two scraps of fabric. A square, in a square knot you want to make one, you go the blue over the purple, and then again, blue over purple. And that gives you a square knot. And that's the knot we'll be using all the way around the neckline. So take two of the triangle fringes at the neckline and just decide which one you want to start with. I'm going to do blue over purple. So I'm doing blue over purple, just a simple knot, and then again, start with the blue and go blue over purple. And pull that tight. And then move to the next one. Blue over purple, and again, blue over purple. Now you want to continue in the same fashion all the way around, so you'll have a nice even knotting. So keep in mind, your blue over purple. Tie it, try to tie it good and snug. And then blue over purple. And you continue all the way around the neck in this fashion. Okay, here's our last knot. As you see, the hole gets much smaller while you're tying the knots. Don't worry about it. The fabric will stretch. I lost my last tassel there. Okay, and you just pull the neckline like that and straighten it out. As it gets worn also, the fabric will pull down and the neckline will stretch. Okay, and that is the tied neckline for the poncho that I've shown you on a scrap piece of fabric. But this method can be used on your large poncho. "
