"Hi I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now we would make a front pocket and a pocket flap. You want to take two pieces of fabric like this again. We are going to cut two at once and we would measure out seven and a half by seven and a half inches. I'm marking it in two places from the edge seven and half inches and then join the two marks and draw our two lines. Measure up from the bottom again seven and a half inches and join those two lines with your ruler and draw a line like that. That would be our pocket, you can place a pin just to hold the two pieces together and it makes it a little easier to cut. This is the pocket section. Okay and now I would measure the pocket flap, it is going to be four inches. So I'm going to measure (let me cut this little bit here). I will measure four inches from the side, I'm sorry four inches and a half inches from the side here. Measure it in two places four and a half inches and join to two marks and draw a line. Then we would measure eight inches also in two spots and draw a line. We would cut that out and this is our pocket flap. Let's put a pin to hold those two pieces together. Now on our pocket flap we want to have a little bit of point, we don't just want a flap pocket. So we are going to mark it down the side three inches with a little mark here. Then three inches on both sides, mark it. Find the center and we would just mark the center like that so we have three inches and three inches on the side. In the center here and just join that three inch line to the center and draw a line and again on this side the three inch mark to the center mark. Draw a line and you can cut right along that line and now we have a pocket flap with a little bit of a point to it. Now this is the time if you want to personalize your backpack pocket you can if you want to embroidery your name or put a applicate or anything on the front pocket of your backpack. This is the time to do it. I'm going to just quilt it like we did from the bottom and the top section. For this you want it to be stiffer so we are going to cut two pieces of the iron on interfacing to it here to both the flap and the front pocket section to give it a good firm body. A good stiff pocket. So we want to cut two pieces each of both of these shapes. Let's take that to the ironing board and inhere on the iron interfacing to all the section of the pocket."
