"Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now I'm going to show you how to cut out your doggy pattern and we'll be pinning it down to the fabric. Now just cut it out as closely as possible all the way around. This pattern doesn’t' have any seam allowance because we sew it by hand nice and close to the edge of the fabric. You make it a little bit bigger than you actually want it. It has very, very little seam allowance. There we go. Now, pinning it down, you want to fold your fabric in half. Even this fleecy fabric has 2 sides to it. One is a little bit more matted and the other one has little bit more of a fuzzy side. The doggy pattern has to be laid down and have 2 opposite sides; a right side and a left side. You need to put the 2 insides of the fabric together so you end up with 2 outsides. An outside and an outside. This is the way you lay your doggy pattern down. Now, for the doggy sides, the head and sides, you need to cut 2 pieces. I fold my fabric in half so I get and inside and an outside. I pin it down. Pin in it a few places so that it won't move while you're cutting it out. It's good to put your hand underneath and check to make sure that it's lying very flat on the fabric. Pin that down. There you go. Now, we're going to be cutting 4 ears, but we'll only pin it down. We'll only cut 2 at once, so we'll have to cut this ear pattern twice. The bottom pattern, after we finish cutting our doggy we'll pin it down to a single fabric because we only need to cut one."
