"Next I'm going to show you an exercise that I call a back burner, and after you check out how I do it you're going to realize why. So what you're going to do is grab yourself a moderately light weight. I'm using a ten pound dumbbell here. Want to come down with your feet square facing front. Again, slight bend in your knees. What this exercise is designed to do is get your lower back muscles involved and strengthen your lower back as well as your core and your hamstrings. So what I'm going to do is bring one foot off the floor; you're going to come down, reach over, and then come back just like that. You want to reach down, pull up through your lower back. Keep your abdominals nice and tight. If you squeeze your abdominals and your core together it's going to help you maintain your balance. Want to come down and up. There are a couple variations of this exercise for advanced users. What you want to do in an advanced motion is as you come up you're going to extend and get those oblique's involved and then come back down over, turn, and up. Again, focus on keeping that core nice and tight. If you have to, sometimes you may have to just check your balance right in front. A thing called a dab, and just come down tap your foot. It'll help you regain your balance. And then come on back down. Again, this exercise is designed for your lower back, your hamstrings, and your abdominals. And that's proper execution of what I like to call a back burner."
