How to Use Pastels in Stamping

"One of my very favorite techniques is using the stamping pastels. This is a quick and easy way to use your imagination, your talents. You'll feel like an artist when you're done creating these projects. I'm going to go ahead and open up my pastels. There's a couple of ways you can apply the pastels. The pastels come with these little q-tip like appliers. I prefer to use what's called a sponge dauber. These little daubers fit right on your finger so you can apply. It's like an extension of your finger. It's like a paintbrush in a way. The first thing we're going to do is we're just going to take a stamp, and I chose just a simple flower. We're going to use a little versa mark ink. Ink up my stamp. Stamp it. Here's where I get to be creative and use my imagination with the pop-in pastels. First thing I'm going to do is I like purple, so I'm going to take a little purple and I'm going to do dab this flower. When you're using the pastels, you really want to dab. You don't want to rub. Rubbing tends to smear, so just a quick little dab. Then I'm going to use a little of green for the leaves and for the stems. Then for the other flower, we'll do a little pink. Dab that flower all up. You will have a little bit of dust. When you're done, you can just take it and knock it and blow it a little bit. There's your finished product. It's a very delicate flower design. Beautiful, quick and easy. I'll hope you'll try using the pastels in your next project."
