"JEANETTE WHITE: Hi. I'm Jeanette White with Expert Village and Piper's Quilts & Comforts is located in Salt Lake City, Utah in Sugarhouse. Today, we're going to be talking about doing log cabin, only we're going to do it a little bit differently. We're going to do it with paper piecing. Log cabin is in this cute little row quilt which is a class we teach here at the store, and this row is log cabin. You can see that it starts out with a focal point of either red or black which signifies the heart of the home. And then when you see the construction on these corners here, it's like a log cabin is built and that's how this has gotten its name. Generally, it's done by stitching strips starting here, this would be number 2, this would be 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and so on. It's a very high degree of accuracy with this little block. If you're off, even a 16th of an inch one or two times, then the blocks aren't going to line up. So, today, we're going to be doing it with paper piecing. It's really fast. It's really easy, and all of your blocks are going to go together, and you're not going to have a stomach ache. This is a really fun project to do."
