"On behalf of expertvillage.com, I am Jennifer with a Perfect Fit Alterations. We are located in Burleson, Texas. Our phone number is (817) 447-3522. We are continuing on with our little pet coat demonstrating how important backstitching is. Now we are going to add our collar. We cut the collar out and we have decorated the collar. We are going to line our marks up which we made previously and we are going to put a little pin right there in the center. We want to make sure that we make the center right otherwise our collar will be off kilter here. We are going to use our pins and pin it all the way around here. Here's our collar for our little coat. It's a little tricky going around the corners so as long as you've got it pinned, you should not have a problem. Okay, we are going to start from the edge. Going to go 2 or 3 stitches and do our backstitching. Now don't sew over your pins. Be sure and take your pins out before you get to them. That's a good way to break a sewing machine needle. Right here at the edge where the 2 seams come together you want to backstitch, lock it into place, stop before you take your pins out so you don't sew over them. That is very important. Now you are going to do some backstitching right here in the center. This fabric tries to fold a little bit on you so you have to really watch it and be careful not to stretch it because if you stretch it and you flip your collar, it will be warped looking and we don't want that either. You are going to backstitch right in the center and continue on. Going over another seam, I am going to backstitch and as I come to the end, I am going to backstitch till I lock my stitches in place.
