"On behalf of expertvillage.com, I am Jennifer with a Perfect Fit Alterations in Burleson, Texas. Our phone number is (817) 447-3522. We are now going to decorate the pet coat demonstrating some backstitching. We have pinned on, we've cut out and pinned on our little hearts and we chosen our zig zag stitch. Now when we first start our first couple of stitches we are going to hit the reverse key and we are going to go backwards. That is going to lock in our stitches so that when we continue on around, that doesn't come off. Now we are coming to a corner. This machine has a needle down so we are going to push our needle down, continue on 2 or 3 stitches and then hit the reverse key to backstitch to lock the tip of the heart. We are sewing with a different colored thread so that it shows up on the purple one, it will be really pretty when we get it finished. Now we want to slow way down when we are going around the corner. We want to keep the middle of the foot right in the middle of the heart, on the edge of the heart. Now it is getting real tight here so we are going to stop with the needle in the down position. If your machine doesn't have a needle down position, you can use the hand wheel to push the needle part down, turn the heart and continue on. Now when we get to the middle of the heart here, we are going to do another backstitch to lock the stitches in place, we are going to go forward again with the needle down, raise the presser foot and turn the fabric. Slow way down as you are going around this corner. If you try to go to this corner too fast, you are going to mess your stitching up. We are coming to the end of where we started the heart. We are going to stop, push the reverse key, do some backstitching and lock our stitches in place. That will complete our first heart."
